As the Market enters a new period of strategic visioning and implementation the intention for this program is to empower Ambassadors to further represent a spirit of hospitality and the character of Philadelphia by supporting both shoppers with navigation through and education about all facets of Reading Terminal Market.

Reading Terminal Market’s inaugural Ambassador program was first introduced in 2017 but sunsetted in 2020. The purpose of this program was to leverage support from volunteers to assist customers with navigating the Market, its merchants, offerings, and programming. Ambassadors were expected to do this by circulating the Market floor during shifts in uniform to ensure that they are visible to customers requiring assistance.

Ambassadors are Market volunteers responsible for activities related to Education, Navigation, and Connection at Reading Terminal.
Ambassadors will apply online and once approved, will be invited to sign up for shifts on an ongoing basis. They will be present, on-site 4 days a week (Thursday through Sunday), for 5 hours a day, during the Market’s peak times. They are meant to be a source of support for shoppers, Merchants and Corporation staff. 4 – 5 Ambassadors will volunteer per day, (2-3 rovers | 1-2 stationed), covering 3, 2-3 hour shifts.

Market Ambassadors will be managed by a paid, part-time Executive Ambassador.
