Walk into the Reading Terminal’s 12th and Filbert entrance and the sweet, toasty aroma is intoxicating: it’s the unmistakable fragrance of coffee roasting. Small-batch, locally roasted coffee is all the rage these days, but Old City Coffee has been micro-roasting since 1985. They still roast all of their 100-percent Arabica coffees, sourced from all over the world, right in Reading Terminal.
Stop by their flagship stand, or their second location by the 11th and Arch entrance, for a cappuccino, americano, or latte made with their custom-blended six-bean espresso, a cup of the day’s drip coffee brew, or a bag of beans—along with brewing paraphernalia—to take home. Their crew of certifiable coffee nerds is happy to walk you through the differences among roasts and origins to help you pinpoint the coffee of your dreams.
