Husband-and-wife owners Watson and Joycelyn Parks opened De’Village in 2001 to bring some African culture to the Reading Terminal Market. Now, their stand is a calm, incensed oasis among bustling food stalls, where tourists and locals alike browse through African jewelry, artwork, fabrics, and other accessories and decorations. Come here for unique gifts, handcrafted jewelry—some made by Watson himself—and intricate sculptures and other pieces imported from Kenya. The Parks family has a long history in city, and are always happy to share insights on Philadelphia culture.
