Scrapple and Apple Festival is Reading Terminal Market’s annual celebration of one of Pennsylvania’s most beloved regional foods. On this special day, merchants create limited-edition scrapple dishes ranging from classic breakfast favorites to creative new recipes available only during the event.

Why is Pennsylvania Known for Scrapple?

Scrapple is a traditional Pennsylvania Dutch breakfast meat that has been enjoyed for generations. Originally created as a way to reduce food waste by using every part of the animal, scrapple has become one of Pennsylvania’s most recognizable regional foods and remains especially popular throughout Philadelphia and southeastern Pennsylvania.

Scrapple Sculpting Contest | DATE TBD

Attention Sculptors, Artists & Scrapple Lovers – sign up to compete in our 1st ever Scrapple Sculpting Contest. Thursday, October 10 at 11am, Reading Terminal Market.

Two winners will be selected. One winner will be chosen on Thursday as judged by a local sculptor, and on Saturday following our Scrapple & Apple Festival, a second winner will be chosen by popular public vote. All contestants receive a free Festival T-shirt.

Prize: Scrapple Trophy, Reading Terminal Market Swag Bag, and $100 Market Gift Card

No entry fee or purchase required. Contestants must arrive at Reading Terminal Market no later than 10:30am. Must be 18 years of age or older. Open to accomplished artists and beginners. Winner will be notified by email and need not be present to win. All contestants receive a free Scrapple & Apple Festival T-shirt. RTM will supply a 5lb block of scrapple and sculpting tools.
