Join Us!
In partnership with Forman Arts Initiative and Mural Arts, join us for this FREE event and an afternoon of conversations and storytelling over food. Hosted at the historic Reading Terminal Market, Eugenio Salas, culinary and visual artist will be in conversation with Reading Terminal Market’s Olympia Gyro owner, Athens Voulgaridis, his wife Roula and mother Despina as they prepare Galaktoboureko, a traditional Greek dessert made with layers of golden brown crispy phyllo, sprinkled with melted butter, filled with creamy custard and bathed in scented syrup.
About Olympia Gyro at Reading Terminal Market
Olympia Gyro opened at Reading Terminal Market in 1982. It was purchased by George Voulgaridis in 1984 after emigrating from Greece. As a teenager, Athens worked in the family business and took over Olympia Gyro in 2009. He maintains the family tradition of proudly serving classic Greek fare at Reading Terminal Market. His mother Despina continues to make the baklava from scratch every morning!
Olympia Gyro offers Greek specialties like grilled-to-order gyros and souvlakia, flavorful Greek salads, or stuffed grape leaves. Whatever you order, don’t leave before you’ve tasted a slice of Mama’s homemade spanakopita or baklava.
