Since our grand opening in 1893, it has been our mission here at the Reading Terminal Market to create a family-oriented community in which local food purveyors, farmers, and shopkeepers can unite to create an authentic Philadelphia experience for all visitors. As we celebrate our 125th year here, we are excited to announce that we will be hosting the largest family-friendly ice cream festival in the country, The Philly Ice Cream Scoop, as part of the Wawa Welcome America celebration on Saturday, June 30th from 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

This admission-free ice cream event will showcase thirteen local ice cream purveyors including Zsa’s, Lil Pop Shop, Bright Yellow Creamery, and Chilly Philly, and over fifteen RTM merchants (see below for a full list of participating artisans) to create a fun-filled day of ice cream specials, musical performances, interactive games, and much more!

Stationed in Center Court, & outside on Filbert Street, the ice cream purveyors will have their own free demonstrations and activities including ice cream eating contests, blind taste tests, and messy ice cream games. The surrounding Reading Terminal Market merchants will be selling various ice cream specials with highlights that include funnel cake with ice cream, apple dumpling a la mode, spiked root beer floats, affogatos, and much more. Live music from Music Monkey Jungle, raffle prizes (enter by purchasing ice cream), and interactive games for everyone to enjoy will also be taking place on Filbert Street.

Although The Philly Ice Cream Scoop ends promptly at 5:00 PM, guests are encouraged to grab dinner from any of our 75+ merchants and head over to the Pennsylvania Convention Center at 12th & Arch Street to enjoy a free screening of the family-favorite animation, Sing! at 5:00 PM in the Nutter Theatre.
