Continuing our 125th birthday celebration Reading Terminal Market will be hosting “Taste of the Market: A Chef’s Salute” on September 22nd & 23rd. The weekend will feature local chefs including James Beard Award nominees Joncarl Lachman of Noord and Diana Widjojo of Hardena, Sylva Senat of Maison 208, and Marcie Turney of Lolita, Barbuzzo, and others, along with Silvia and Daniel Lucci of LUHV Food, and Jezabel Careaga of Jezabel’s Argentinian Café.
Attendees will be able to join the chefs as they prepare a signature dish and as well as participate in a chef’s perspective tour of the Market highlighting where the ingredients were sourced. Up to 75 guests will be able to attend each session and all are first-come, first-serve. The shopping tours will only be able to accommodate the first 10 people who sign up at each demo. A full schedule of events can be found below.
“Reading Terminal Market has served as a shopping destination for Philadelphia residents and top chefs alike for the last 125 years,” said Anuj Gupta, Reading Terminal Market General Manager. “Our goal for this event is to showcase the Market’s vast array of the highest-quality fresh ingredients, specialty foods, and other unique shopping options. We are excited to have a talented group of local chefs joining us to share their craft and love of the Market with our customers.”
In addition to the chef-led demos, Reading Terminal Market merchants will be participating in various demos in Piano Court. These will include instruction on how to use various kitchen tools properly, how to pull your own mozzarella, and more. Children’s activities including veggie stamping and other food arts will take place throughout the day in the former Wursthaus Schmitz space right off of Center Court.
