Since 1993, Wendy Smith Born and James Barrett have been leading Philadelphia’s artisan food movement with their crackling baguettes, San Francisco-style sourdough, multigrain boules, and other European-style breads. Though these elegant, flour-dusted loaves are what brought them to prominence, they are by no means the extent of Metropolitan’s expertise.
