With award-winning fried chicken, ribs, fried catfish, mac and cheese, and collard greens, Keven Parker’s Soul Food Cafe brings southern home cooking to Reading Terminal and washes it down with tropical sweet tea. Parker, a Philadelphia native, opened his first restaurant on South Street in 2000. Patrons fell for homestyle dishes like turkey chops in pepper gravy, fried chicken, and candied yams. In 2013, he opened the Keven Parker Soul Food Cafe in Reading Terminal, a chance to serve up similar flavors to a lunchtime crowd. Parker, who is as inspired by design as he is by food, envisioned the cool, modern seating area of the stand, a comfortable, chic oasis perfect for enjoying a leisurely meal.
