The Reading Terminal Market has served the Philadelphia public for 127 years. We have sustained this Market through the Depression, world wars and other societal seismic shifts. COVID-19 presents a challenge to our ordinary way of life, but the Market is prepared to ensure that it remains open, safe and stocked during this period. The health and safety of our staff, customers, and visitors is of utmost concern, alongside transparent and constant communication.
The Market is open for business, 8 AM to 6 PM every day and we have instituted several measures to maintain this schedule, provide access to fresh food and continue serving our local community. These measures include:
• The distribution of sanitization/facial tissue stations at every entrance to the Reading Terminal, our restrooms, and seating areas;
• Reminding store owners about proper cleaning protocols, the most effective solutions and sanitary agents to utilize and the importance of increasing the frequency of cleaning/sanitization measures;
• Distribution of disinfectant wipes in all of our seating areas;
• Instructions and guidelines, posted throughout the Market, on best sanitary practices and how to protect oneself from infection.
We are also instituting measures to make the Market as accessible as possible. Beginning today (March 13th), delivery charges and order minimums will be waived for all on-line grocery orders (with delivery to a 16 mile radius) and delivery on demand requests. Just use the following code at checkout: RTMFREE. Furthermore, we will make 2 hour parking available free at our partner garage located at 11th & Arch Street. Just spend $10 at any merchant in the Market and take your ticket to our Customer Service Hub for this special validation. We will make every effort to ensure that you can obtain fresh produce, meats, seafood, and other ingredients you will need for your households during this challenging time.
Furthermore, we are prepared to take additional measures to ensure the public’s safety. We will utilize our website and social media platforms to continue distributing timely information on the Market’s status and proactive steps we are taking. We are grateful for your continued support of the Reading Terminal, and just as we have for over a century and a quarter, we will collectively weather this storm.
