On Saturday night, some of our doors on Arch Street were damaged, but none of our staff nor security team were injured. We want to let everyone know that we plan to open on Wednesday, showing love to our great city, and asking all our friends and supporters to be safe over the next few days and to please check in on your neighbors.
When I moved to Philadelphia six years ago, I instantly fell in love with our City. What I admire about Philadelphia is our neighborhood cultures: I love it when people first identify themselves as being from West Philly, South Philly, ’Senner’ City or, as I’ve heard a few times, “the Great Northeast.” The Reading Terminal is a uniquely special place where these communities can all come together. As a public market, it is our job to be a resource for all neighborhoods, and we are committed to working harder on ways to become even more inclusive in our mission to serve all our fellow Philadelphians.
At the Reading Terminal, we stand with peaceful protesters and our neighbors in Black and Brown communities, and extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and countless others who died as a result of racist violence.
