It’s a tough choice between the sweet and the savory at Miller’s Twist, Roger Miller’s shop that sells soft, butter-dipped Amish-style pretzels and ice cream from Lancaster county. The pretzels, a Reading Terminal favorite, aren’t the chewy pretzels that Philadelphia is known for, but plenty of people prefer them. These, made from fresh dough throughout the day, rolled and twisted by hand, are tender. The faint tang from baking soda and the rich butter gives them their distinctive flavor. Since their pretzels are so good you might want to eat them three times a day, Miller’s Twist has figured out how. There are many breakfast options: bacon, egg, and cheese, all wrapped in pretzel dough. Lunch choices include pretzel-wrapped hot dogs or turkey sausage flavored with broccoli and cheddar. Get through either meal and you might have room for a cone or cup of Kreider Farm’s ice cream in flavors like butter brickle, strawberry, or cow palace.
